How It Works

Installation

  • Adapts to all filter types with ease
  • Attach the smart ionizer to the return of the pool
      • Note: Arrow on Ionizer should point towards the pool
  • Plugs into a standard GFCI 110v outlet

Start Up

  • Setting up your Smart salt system for the first time
  • Once you have your pool uncovered it is always recommended to add Liquid Magnet to your pool, this will remove unwanted minerals from you pool. Recommended dose 1 Quart per 10,000 gallons of water
  • The next step in the the start up process is to balance all your water chemistry levels, alkalinity, pH, Water hardness
  • The next step is to add Salt to the pool, it is recommended to add one 40lb bag per 10,000 gallons of water
  • The next step is to add “SMART SALT” to the pool, it is recommended to add one 8lb bucket per 5,000 gallons of water
  • The final step is to add “Smart Boost” to your pool, it is always recommended to add this to the pool when the sun is down, add one bag of “Smart boost” per 5,000 gallons of water
  • Once you have all the chemicals done, be sure to check out “setting the ionizer”

Setting the Ionizer

  • Once you have all your chemicals done, setting the ionizer is the next step in the set up process
  • Be sure to run your pool for at least 24 hours after putting “smart salt” into the pool
  • Once you have run your pool, plug in the ionizer
    Set your ion level by pressing the “+” or “-”
  • Each level represents 5,000 gallons of water, adjust to your pool size

Weekly Maintenance

  • Weekly maintenance of your Smart salt pool takes no time at all
  • It is recommended to check and balance your Alkalinity, pH, Water hardness, and total dissolved solids, levels each week
  • Add Weekly Smart boost Treatments to the pool, with a weekly treatment of smart boost it will ensure Algae does not stand a chance to be in your pool. For weekly treatments add one bag of Smart Boost for 10,000 gallons of water.
  • Add weekly Smart Sparkle treatments to the pool, weekly treatments of smart sparkle will help maximize your filtration cycles by breaking down oils and lotions to eliminate the chance of it clogging your filter. For weekly treatments add one pint of Smart Sparkle up to 20,000 gallons of water.
  • Recommended to add weekly dosage of Jump Start to get the maximum use out of your Smart boost and Smart Sparkle. Add 8oz of Jumpstart per 10,000 gallons of water

Pool Opening

  • Opening your Smart salt pool
  • Once you have your pool uncovered it is always recommended to add Liquid Magnet to your pool, this will remove unwanted minerals from you pool. Recommended dose 1 Quart per 10,000 gallons of water
  • The first step in any pool opening is to balance all your water chemistry levels, alkalinity, pH, Water hardness
  • The second step is to add salt to the pool, Add one bag of pool salt per 10,000 gallons of water. Depending on how much water you added to your pool over the course of the winter, it is recommended to add half of your original dosage.
  • The Third step is adding Smart Salt into your pool, add one 8lb bucket of Smart salt per 5,000 gallons of water
  • The final step for opening a Smart Salt pool is adding Smart boost to the pool, add one bag per 5,000 gallons of clear pool water, if the water is green it is recommended to triple the dose, Smart Boost is most effective when added to the pool at night.
  • For optimal chemical performance add one quart of Advanced Solutions Jump Start at the end of the opening process to boost your chemicals into working longer and harder for you.
  • When opening the pool, to ensure maximum efficiency out of the Smart Ionizer it is recommended to replace the ionizer cell every season

Closing

  • Closing your smart salt pool could not be easier
  • Just like you do now, the first step in closing a pool is to clean any and all debris out of the pool
  • Next step is the chemicals
  • Balance your water chemistry levels to range, alkalinity, pH, water hardness
  • It is recommended to use Chlor NoMores’ Old Man Winter Winterizing Orb and Advanced Solutions Jump Start.
  • It is recommended to use one winter orb and one bottle of Jump Start for most above ground pools
  • Simply add the winter orb into your through the wall skimmer, and pour the bottle of Jump Start around the perimeter of of the pool.
  • Let filter run for 8-12 hours
  • After the chemicals have been circulated, remove the black orb and dispose of it.
  • Winterizing the smart ionizer is the next step
  • Unplug the Smart ionizer from your outlet
  • Disconnect the smart ionizer from your filter, and store away in a dry area that is protected from the outside elements.

Cell Replacement

  • Replacing your cell is quick and easy
  • It is recommended that you replace your cell every season, this will ensure you get the maximum efficacy from your Smart Ionizer
  • Before you start make sure you have the ionizer unplugged from all power
  • first , remove ionizer from filter if it is attached
  • Second, pull gently on the flow sensor to remove from the
  • Third, unscrew the two support screws on the bottom of the unit
  • Next gently pull cell off the controller
  • Next pull both wires off the cell terminals, DO NOT UNSCREW TERMINALS
  • Next plug controller wires on the new cell terminals, wires are reversible, both terminals are the same
  • Next put controller on cell, the cell can only fit one way
  • Next screw the two screws into the cell to hold controller and cell together
  • Next plug in flow sensor
  • Lastly reattach ionizer to filter system

  1. I have a Metal pool, can I use Smart Salt?
    1. Yes!, Smart salt systems use a very small amount of salt, this makes it safe for use in all pool types
  2. Why should I go with a Smart Salt system instead of a Salt Chlorine Generator
    1. Salt Chlorine Generators use a large amount of salt to allow the cell to operate, this can cause cloudiness in your water, as well as be extremely corrosive on the pool, pool equipment, and anything around the pool. In addition to that Salt Chlorine Generators can be very expensive to replace parts and keep running all season long. 
  3. Do I still have to shock my pool? 
    1. Shocking the pool is very important maintenance procedure no matter what system you use, chlorine, salt, minerals, smart salt, all systems require weekly shock treatments to keep the pool looking its best all season long.
  4. How often should I replace my cell?
    1. Its recommended to replace your cell every season, this will ensure you get the most out of your Smart Salt system.
  5. What is Smart Sparkle?
    1. Smart Sparkle is a natural enzyme, that helps with breaking down oils and lotions that commonly come off our skin, these oils and lotions can clog up your filter system requiring you to clean your filter more often. Smart Sparkle will help get the maximum amount cleaning potential out of your filter and help reduce pool maintenance.
  6. My Chamber light is on, what does this mean?
    1. The chamber light on the Smart ionizer is there to tell you something went wrong inside the chamber that houses the copper ionizing rods. 
  7. I can’t adjust my ionizing level, the “+” and “-” dont work, what should I do?
    1. If the “+” and “-” do not let you adjust the levels, this means the chamber light is light and the Smart ionizer will not allowed you to change the levels until the chamber light is cleared, please be sure to check our troubleshooting guild to help assist in clearing the chamber light.
  8. What are the Ideal ranges for my water chemistry levels?
    1. pH 7.2-7.8
    2. Alkalinity 80-140 ppm
    3. Water Hardness  200-350ppm
    4. Total Dissolved Solids 1000-1200ppm
  9. When I test my water, my Chlorine levels are low, is this normal?
    1. This is normal for the smart salt systems, they are using natural ions to keep your pool algae free!
  10. How do I know if the Smart Salt System is working?
    1. If your pool is crystal clear the system is working.
  11. My Water is cloudy, why did this happen?
    1. Cloudy water can happen for a number of reasons, the three main reasons are, high Alkalinity, beginning stages of algae growing, or dead algae particles.
      1. If your water was clear and turned cloudy, test your levels, if your alkalinity is above the recommended range, adjust accordingly and it will clear
      2. If your water was clear and turned cloudy and your alkalinity levels are balanced, increase your ionizer output level or add Shock to your pool.
      3. If your water was green and turned cloudy, these are dead algae particles, use a water clarifier and it will clear 
  12. Where is the return to my pool?
    1. The “return” is where the water is feeding back to the pool, this is after both the pump and the filter.

Troubleshooting

  • Chamber light is illuminated
    • Step one make sure your filter is running
    • Step two unplug the power to the ionizer, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in
    • Step three, if the light is still lite, turn off the filter, remove Smart ionizer from the filter, check to see if the copper rods have depleted, or if debris is touching the rods.
      • If the rods are depleted, replace cell
      • If debris is touching rods, removed debris
    • Step four if the light is still lite, the total dissolved solid level may be out of range, it is best to keep the total dissolved solids level between 1000ppm-1200ppm, this can be raise by adding salt into the pool, 1lb of salt will raise 12pmm per 10,000 gallons of water.

Warranty

3 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
This warranty extends to the original purchaser only and commences on the date of original retail purchase, regardless of date of installation. Accordingly, this warranty is not transferable to subsequent purchasers.

If your Chlor NoMore Ionizer ceases to operate within the warranty period, it will be repaired or exchanged by your local Chlor NoMore Ionizer Dealer, at no charge. This warranty does not cover any Chlor NoMore Ionizer which has been subject to misuse, neglect, negligence, or accident, or that has been operated in any way contrary to the operating instructions as specified in the instruction-manual. This warranty does not apply to any damage that is a result of improper maintenance or to any Chlor NoMore Ionizer which has not been installed as specified in the owner’s manual. This warranty also does not cover any Chlor NoMore Ionizer that has been altered or modified.

IN ORDER FOR THIS WARRANTY TO BE EFFECTIVE, YOUR INFORMATION MUST BE REGISTERED WITH YOUR LOCAL Chlor NoMore Ionizer DEALER.

To obtain warranty service, the Chlor NoMore Ionizer must be returned, within the warranty period to your local Dealer. The expense of removing, reinstalling and returning the System is the responsibility of the owner, THE COMPANY’S responsibility with respect to warranty claims is limited to exchanging or repairing the System and shipping charges related to its return to the owner. No claim of breach of warranty shall be cause for cancellation or rescission of the contract of sale of any Chlor NoMore Ionizer.

THE COMPANY reserves the right to change or improve the design of any Chlor NoMore Ionizer without obligation to modify any System previously manufactured. All implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose are disclaimed in their entirety after expiration of the warranty period with respect to parts and design.

THE COMPANY’S obligation under this warranty is strictly and exclusively limited to the exchange of defective Chlor NoMore Ionizer and THE COMPANY does not assume or authorize anyone to assume for it, any other obligation.

THE COMPANY’S assumes no responsibility for incidental, consequential or other damages including, but not limited to, transportation or shipping expenses, telephone charges, rental of a like product during the time warranty service is being performed, travel, loss or damage to personal property, loss of revenue, loss of use, loss of time or inconvenience.

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental, consequential damages, so the above limitations and exclusions may not apply to you.
